Mayor Hammell Attends 2025 AMO Conference, Advocates for Chesley Hospital
CHESLEY, ON: Mayor Steve Hammell and CAO Emily Dance joined thousands of municipal leaders at the 2025 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference held August 17–20 at the Rogers Centre in Ottawa. The annual event brings together elected officials and senior staff from across Ontario to discuss pressing issues such as healthcare, infrastructure, and economic resilience.
During the conference, Mayor Hammell and CAO Dance met with Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones to advocate for the future of the Chesley Hospital and to emphasize the importance of maintaining accessible healthcare services in rural communities.
“Meeting with Minister Jones was a critical opportunity to reinforce the importance of Chesley Hospital to our residents,” said Mayor Hammell. “We are committed to working with the province to ensure sustainable healthcare solutions for our community.”
Mayor Hammell extended special thanks to Warden Charbonneau for his continued support of Arran-Elderslie’s healthcare advocacy efforts, and to MPP Paul Vickers for his ongoing engagement and representation at Queen’s Park.
