Whereas The month of September is recognized nationally as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month;
Whereas Childhood Cancer is the leading disease killer of children in Canada, killing more children between the ages of one and twenty than numerous other diseases;
Whereas Young cancer patients and their families facing the journey of childhood cancer deserve support, understanding and compassion during their courageous journey;
Whereas We recognize the dedication and hard work of all those who are working to overcome childhood cancer and assist these families;
Whereas This month we raise awareness and show our support of the challenges that these children and their families are forced to experience and join them in their hopes and dreams that cancer can be beaten;
Therefore, I, Steve Hammell, Mayor of The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie, and on behalf of the Council of the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie do hereby proclaim September 2025, as “CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH” in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie
