Our Sanitary Sewer System

The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie operates a sanitary sewer system designed to safely collect and transport wastewater from homes and businesses to treatment facilities. This system plays a vital role in protecting public health and the environment by ensuring that wastewater is properly managed and treated before being returned to natural waterways.

Our responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining sewer mains, manholes, and pumping stations
  • Monitoring system performance and addressing blockages or backups
  • Complying with provincial regulations for wastewater management
  • Investing in upgrades to improve efficiency and reliability

Residents can help by avoiding flushing wipes, fats, oils, and grease, which can cause costly clogs and damage to the system.
