Household Hazardous Waste

 

Items that are corrosive, flammable, explosive or poisonous are considered Household Hazardous Waste and WILL NOT be collected with your garbage or Blue Bin recycling, or accepted at any Arran-Elderslie landfill.  Bruce County hosts collection events throughout the year. For dates and locations, iisit the  Bruce County website.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) must not be put in garbage or Blue Bin recycling, or poured down the drain, toilet or sewer.

Improper disposal of Household Hazardous Waste has negative effects on our environment and can be harmful to humans and animals.

Please note: empty metal paint cans (with lids removed) can go in recycling once they have completely dried.

Bruce County collects Household Hazardous waste items at their Household Hazardous Waste Events located throughout Bruce County. The host an event in Paisley each year for Arran-Elderslie residents, however all residents of Bruce County are welcome to attend any of the events. Commercial, agricultural, industrial wastes, pcb's, ammunition or flares will not be accepted. Only containers with a volume of 30 litres or less will be accepted. Waste must be received in containers that can be disposed of, containers are not emptied and returned (ie. gas cans).
