Community Message Boards
Community message boards are provided to share local information, events, and opportunities that support community engagement, volunteerism, and quality of life. Community Message Boards are located in Chesley, Paisley, and Tara in community spaces and also in the arenas.
Due to limited space, priority will be given to postings that meet the following criteria:
- Events or activities taking place within the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie
- Events occurring within the next 30 days
- Special events (e.g., festivals, fundraisers, community gatherings)
- Events or organizations that directly serve residents of Arran-Elderslie
The community message boards are intended to promote timely, locally relevant information that benefits residents and enhances community participation.
Eligible Content
Content may be posted if it relates to:
- Community events (educational, cultural, recreational, civic, or charitable)
- Non-profit or community organization initiatives
- Municipal programs, services, or notices
- Volunteer opportunities and community services
- Non-partisan public information (e.g., community meetings or forums)
Ineligible Content
The following content is not permitted:
- Commercial advertising or promotion of products or services
- Business advertisements or retail promotions
- Personal notices (e.g., items for sale, rentals, birthdays, weddings)
- Partisan political materials or campaign messaging
- Materials primarily promoting religious doctrine
- Offensive, discriminatory, or defamatory content
- Content that contravenes municipal by-laws or applicable legislation
- Duplicate postings or more than two posters per organization
Posting Standards
To maintain fairness and usability:
- Only two (2) posters per organization are permitted at any time and must be for different events
- Maximum poster size is 8.5” x 11”
- Posters must be clear, legible, and appropriate for a general audience
- Materials must be posted only in designated message board areas
- Posters must not cover or remove other active postings
Monitoring and Maintenance
The Municipality will monitor community message boards on a weekly basis.
At their discretion, Municipal Staff will remove:
- Ineligible or non-compliant materials
- Duplicate postings or postings exceeding the two poster per organization limit
- Damaged, outdated, or inappropriate materials
When space is limited, staff will prioritize postings that:
- Promote events or activities taking place within Arran-Elderslie
- Occur within the next 30 days
- Represent special events (e.g., festivals, fundraisers, community gatherings)
- Demonstrate a clear benefit to or service for residents of Arran-Elderslie
Materials that do not meet these priority criteria may be removed to make space for higher-priority postings. Removal of materials is at the discretion of staff. Complaints and concerns can be forwarded to communications@arran-elderslie.ca
Duration of Posting
- All items may be removed after a maximum of 30 days, or sooner if:
- The event date has passed
- The content no longer meets eligibility criteria
- Space is required for new postings
Ownership and Disclaimer
- All posted materials become the property of the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie
- The Municipality is not responsible for returning submitted materials
- Posting of materials does not constitute endorsement by the Municipality
Roles and Responsibilities
Municipality (Staff):
- Monitor and maintain message boards
- Remove expired, duplicate, or non-compliant materials
- Ensure fair and equitable access
Community Organizations:
- Ensure postings meet all eligibility requirements
- Adhere to size, content, and posting limits
- Keep information accurate and current
