NOTICE OF ELECTION INFORMATION

Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (s.40)

Municipal Elections in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie wishes to remind eligible electors of important information regarding the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election. The upcoming election will be held on the 26th day of October, 2026 for the offices of:

Arran-Elderslie Council:

·         Chesley Ward Councillor – One (1) Elected by Ward

·         Elderslie Ward Councillor – One (1) Elected by Ward

·         Paisley Ward Councillor – One (1) Elected by Ward

·         Tara Ward Councillor – One (1) Elected by Ward

School Board Trustees:

·         Bluewater District School Board Trustee – One (1)

·         Conseil Scolaire Viamonde (French Public) School Board Trustee – One (1)

Voting will begin on October 19, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and end on October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m.

The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie has adopted alternative voting methods, and eligible Electors can vote by Internet or Telephone voting. Information will be shared on the Municipal website at www.arran-elderslie.ca/election. Eligible Electors who are on the Voters list will be mailed a Voter Information Letter further explaining how and when to vote.

Acclamations:

A candidate is acclaimed when, at the close of nominations, they are the only candidate for a position, or when the number of candidates is equal to or less than the number of positions available, meaning the candidates are delcared elected without a vote being held. Below is a list of candidates that were acclaimed for positions:

·         Mayor – Steve Hammell

·         Deputy Mayor – Jennifer Shaw

·         Arran Ward Councillor – Ryan Nickason
