Tara is a place to get outside, get active, and enjoy every season. Explore local parks and trails, paddle the scenic Saugeen River or Teeswater River, or take in the beauty of the outdoors year-round — from summer strolls and bike rides to winter walks and snowshoeing. When the weather moves indoors, community groups keep the fun going with activities like crokinole, euchre, curling, jam sessions and more. There’s always something to do and somewhere to play in Tara!

Are there pickleball, tennis, or basketball courts?
There is a Basketball Court beside the splash pad at 150 Hamilton St
Pickleball times are available in the Arran-Tara Arena each day during the summer months. Please contact the municipality for details.
There are no outdoor pickleball or tennis courts in Tara.
Where can I put my kayak or canoe in the river?
Bruce County’s Paddling map shows access points just north and south and west of Tara to help plan a great day on the river.
Yes! We have seasonal washrooms in many locations from May long weekend until Thanksgiving. Some are flush facilities in our parks and some are portable toilets rented for public convenience.
We also have permanent public facilities in our arenas and libraries that are available during open hours.

Dreammaker Family Campground is located 15 min north west of Tara.
Cedar Rail Campground operates just north of Chesley. Find out more here.
Saugeen Bluffs Conservation Area offers seasonal camping and horse camping 20 minutes south west of Tara. Find out more here.

Where is the nearest hospital in case of emergency?
The emergency room at the Chesley location of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre is open Monday – Friday 7am – 5pm 39 2nd St SE
There are also hospitals in nearby Walkerton or Southampton.
